As a Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, I offer an 7-week programme that can help your child build a secure attachment with you. Whether you are a first-time parent or have multiple children, this programme is designed to support and empower you in your parenting journey.

During our sessions, you will learn about the Circle of Security framework, which is based on over 50 years of research in the fields of attachment theory and child development. You will learn how to identify and respond to your child’s emotional needs, while also setting appropriate boundaries and limits.

The Circle of Security programme will provide you with a safe and supportive environment to explore your own experiences and beliefs about parenting. Through group discussions and reflective exercises, you will gain a deeper understanding of your child’s behaviour and how to strengthen your relationship with them.

The programme is offered in-person in Wanaka or online, so you can choose the format that works best for you. Whether you are looking to enhance your parenting skills, improve your relationship with your child, or simply connect with other parents, the Circle of Security programme can provide you with the tools and support you need

Learning Objectives of the Programme:

  • Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of your child’s self-esteem
  • Honour your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

What parents are saying about this programme:

“Alex is a fantastic facilitator, she shares her knowledge with compassion and kindness. The strategies she shares are helpful and you also understand the why and are more insightful as to how and why the strategies or rather communication works. Alex is great! The course is great!
Feeling lost in my parenting journey I was seeking support and this course was even more than I could have hoped for. Honest, welcoming, non-judgmental and gave me the tools and confidence to keep going and know that I am good enough!”
“I found that after doing the COSP course, my relationship with my children has strengthened so much. I’m using a lot of the strategies learnt from the course in my day to day parenting – and it wasn’t hard to make those changes.”
“I loved this course! Meeting up with like minded parents every week was so insightful and Alex is just a fountain of knowledge that teaches the principles of circle of security parenting beautifully. As for the course itself, it really gives so much guidance as to how to do this whole parenting thing! It’s like you can see your children from an entirely different perspective, you learn how to cope, improve and react differently to challenging situations and improve your family life as a whole! I would (and have) recommended this course to all new parents looking for a little guidance and support.”
“I wasn’t sure what to expect i was happy attending knowing i would learn somethig new. Little did i know that it would actually shape and set me up for the parent i wanted to become. A whole new approach to interacting with your children and understanding their needs as well as your own. Although i attended the course myself i shared everything with my partner, our realtionship changed when we had our daughter i wasnt sure when things would go back to “normal” i didnt understand our roles as parents but the content of this course braught us closer together we had meaningful conversations as we both reflected on our own experiences and we are now on the same page wirh how we would like to raise our daughter.”
“Where do I begin?! – Take your pick 😉 Going through the COSP programme with Alex has been one of the best investments in my parenting journey so far. COSP helps you to gently unpack some of your own childhood and parenting experiences so that you can understand the biases you have so that you can be equipped to develop a more secure relationship with your child. Understanding that my child needs me to be there for them seems simple but too often I don’t show up for them in the way that they need me. COSP has helped me to identify their needs and how to meet them more intentionally. It has decoded for me behaviour that could be perceived as ‘naughty’ or ‘bad’ and shown me that every behaviour is sharing with us a message about a need. I love that it is backed by 20 years of research but it isn’t ‘stuffy’, but rather it is presented in an honest, open and caring environment that supports each of our unique family situations. It was so encouraging to know that I wasn’t the only one struggling with certain triggers with my children and having peers to talk through these issues with has helped me believe that I am a good mum to my kids even when some days are really tough. Alex has a wealth of experience and plenty of time for yarn which made each session insightful and engaging. I’d highly recommend this programme to any parent regardless of how many parenting books you have or haven’t read. This programme is really all that you need to support your child to have the best relationship with you and with others.”
